Liverpool are expected to step up their interest in signing Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Matheus Nunes in the coming months.
The Portuguese was a top target for the Reds last year but he made the surprise switch to the Premier League with Wolves.
Nunes has continued to be linked with a move to Anfield, and Fabrizio Romano claims that a deal could happen this summer.
The Merseyside outfit are set to offload Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner on free transfers in June.
They are planning to pursue two new midfielders and Nunes is one of the top names on their radar alongside Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham.
Nunes could be signed for around £50 million this summer, though it could take more than £100m to sign Bellingham from Dortmund.
Liverpool have had a dreadful Premier League campaign and they are currently 10th in the table with only 29 points from 20 matches.
Irrespective of where they finish, the hierarchy are set to keep the faith in manager Jurgen Klopp and will back him with summer signings.
