The Select Board and Town Administration shared its goals and objectives for the upcoming year with The Daily Item, focusing on various projects and initiatives.

The town plans to complete the tennis and basketball project at Lynnfield High School (LHS), with a specific emphasis on finishing the basketball courts. The project also includes the replacement of hoops both outside and inside at LHS, the installation of a scoreboard inside, the painting of pickleball courts, and the striping of a new basketball court for pickleball use by LHS sports clubs.

Another key area of focus is open space, paths, and land management. The town aims to establish agreements, such as Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs), permits, or leases with the Lynnfield Conservation and Wildlife District (LCWD). Additionally, there are plans to collaborate with Essex Green Belt to create a trail system.

The Public Safety Complex is a significant project for the town, involving collaborations with Complete Streets Salem at Summer, utilizing Safer Grants, and addressing site challenges in the south.

Personnel matters include hiring a Recreation Director and reviewing regulatory department software purchases and implementations. The Middle School theater is set for repair and upgrades, covering safety repairs, sound, and lights.

Other noteworthy projects include the completion and opening of the War Memorial in the fall of 2024, a Library State extension with a possible special Town Meeting, and a Library Feasibility Study for renovation.

Infrastructure improvements will extend to the senior center, with plans to purchase a van.

Collaborative efforts with the Lynnfield Moms Group are in progress to study playground upgrades at Newhall. The town is also addressing safety concerns with the installation of speed signs.
