Brighton & Hove Albion manager Roberto de Zerbi has acknowledged that his team deserved to lose against Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday.
The Seagulls were second best in every department against the Gunners at the Emirates Stadium and they were lucky to go into the half-time break with a 0-0 scoreline.
After the interval, the Gunners stepped up their performance to another level. Goals from Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz helped the Gunners reclaim the top spot in the table.
Speaking after the defeat, De Zerbi accepted that the performance was disappointing and the Gunners truly deserved to win the game with the vast difference between the two teams.
He said: “I’m disappointed with the result but not the other things. We deserved to lose. Arsenal played much better than us.”
“They deserved to win the game. There was too big a difference between the two teams. They played a great game.”
The victory has seen the Gunners move to the top of the table ahead of Liverpool, who failed to beat Manchester United at Anfield in the evening.
The Gunners’ next game will be against the Reds on Saturday. It promises to be a thriller with both teams vying for the Premier League title.
