Reports today indicate that Tottenham will sign James Maddison from Leicester City in a £40 million transfer deal, and that Spurs are optimistic that a deal can be agreed by next week. Leicester City are likely to sell their prized asset as they prepare for a summer clear out following the club’s relegation to the Championship.
There is no doubting James Maddison‘s quality, and he has often impressed for both club and country. Tottenham are long term admirers of the attacking midfielder, but have failed in their best efforts to sign Maddison in previous seasons.
However, chairman Daniel Levy is now certain an agreement can be reached with the Foxes, and that Maddison will become a Tottenham player shortly. He is seen as an eventual successor to Son Heung-Min, the South Korean has indicated he is happy to stay in England for the time being, but could eventually be persuaded to move elsewhere.
Maddison is also being tracked by Chelsea, Arsenal and even Man City could make a surprise last minute move to sign the England international midfielder.
