Lyon defender Malo Gusto is set to sign for Chelsea after completing a successful medical today.
The Blues recently agreed a fee of around €30m for the right-back and he has now passed his medical tests.
Gusto will put pen-to-paper on a long-term deal in the next 24 hours before rejoining Les Gones on loan.
Lyon have always maintained that they wanted to keep Gusto for the season and the Blues have agreed to their condition.
Meanwhile, the deal for Gusto will end the Blues’ long-standing interest in landing Dumfries from Inter.
They were looking at his services at the start of the transfer window, but eventually focused on Gusto.
The 19-year-old is an attacking right-back by trade. His playing style is somewhat similar to Reece James.
Gusto should provide quality cover for James next season. The England defender has been injury-prone of late.
Chelsea could make another signing before the transfer deadline. They are still looking at Brighton‘s Moises Caicedo.
